Traveler, writer, reader, bathroom singer, trekker, dreamer, a superhero in the making! Indulge In: Boat noodles, Pad krapao moo, Khao Mun Gai, Pad Thai Kung. Despite its polished ambiance, the Original Hoy Ka can get really unfriendly to the Thai food newbie. The Original Hoy Ka (not to be confused with that other Hoy Ka), has some weirdly high seating and some very delicious Thai dishes. With a vast culinary tradition that varies significantly by region, the country of Thailand produces some of the most fascinating and craving-inducing Top food and drink in Thailand on the planet, and Los Angeles's huge Thai community (and fans of Thai food in general) have been able to sustain one of the largest thriving Thai food scenes in the country. Spicy, sour, sweet and savory are all in play, and can (and will) be used simultaneously in a single dish. When it comes to flavor profiles, Thai food is as distinct and polarizing as they come. And like all true love affairs, absence makes the heart grow fonder. At its best when the meat is stunningly tender, it could be likened to a beautiful woman: it's mild, sweet and delicately fragrant.Made with morsels of meat, red curry paste, smooth coconut milk and topped off with a sprinkling of finely sliced kaffir lime leaves, this rich, aromatic curry always gets those taste buds tingling. These are great for breakfast or to include in your pack for a trip. Street vendors also sell thicker pancakes, which is essentially the same recipe with the inclusion of eggs.I like my pancakes sweet - hey, I'm Canadian after all! Fillings can also be savoury but I haven't tried them. The fillings are usually sweet corn, grated coconut and coconut cream. These are both made from rice flour and have a ridiculous amount of sugar. If you fancy something sweeter, go for the pancakes or Thai fortune cookies, as I know them. Just another word of caution: if noodles are any other colour besides white, again, I tend to avoid them.To be honest, I stay away from street soups and sauces. And although rice noodles are everywhere, be very wary of soups due to soy sauce in the broth and wontons as they're usually made with wheat and not rice. Although, I would stay away from Chinese type pork and chicken, you know, the red glazed meats that hang from vendors' stalls.I've not been sick from those. In addition, I would recommend the BBQ meats on little skewers and sticky rice. Isn't there some way that yummy goodness could be brought directly to you… on your couch? And then there are the days when you would rather discuss politics with a Bangkok taxi driver than leave your house. On trains, in malls, in restaurants and even on the backs of motorbikes, you will see people glued to their screens - that is, if you look up from your own long enough. It's also obvious to anyone visiting Bangkok that the inhabitants of this city love their smartphones.
